Statement from Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold on the Federal Judge’s Injunction Blocking USPS Attempts to Delay the Mail
Denver, September 17, 2020 – Below is a statement from Secretary of State Jena Griswold regarding the decision of a federal judge in Washington granting a nationwide injunction in a 14-state lawsuit forcing the U.S. Postal Service to immediately halt and reverse operational changes which could impact the timely mailing of ballots.
“I applaud Judge Bastian’s decision to issue a nationwide injunction to stop the U.S.Postal Service from making operational changes that would impact the nation’s elections. According to reporting by the Washington Post, the judge stated that both President Trump and Postmaster General DeJoy have been 'involved in a politically motivated attack on the efficiency of the Postal Service.”
“Every American should be able to vote by mail during a pandemic. Deliberately hindering the delivery of mail ballots during a pandemic is voter suppression. I appreciate Attorney General Weiser’s work and partnership on this important issue.”
