Democrats Kerry Tipper, Meghan Nutting make ballot

DENVER, April 12, 2018 -- Secretary of State Wayne Williams announced today that two Democratic state House candidates, Meghan Nutting and Kerry Tipper, have successfully petitioned onto the ballot.

Nutting is running for House District 5 in Denver, which is represented by Speaker Crisanta Duran, who is term limited.

Other candidates going through the petition route to get on the ballot for that seat are Nicky Yollick and Joel Judd. Yollick already has made the ballot and Judd's signatures are under review. Alex Valdez also turned in signatures, but got on the ballot through the assembly process so his petitions were not reviewed.

Here are Nutting's numbers:

  • Required: 1,000
  • Turned in: 1,932
  • Rejected: 927
  • Accepted: 1,005

Tipper is running for House District 28 in Lakewood, which is represented by Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who is running for the state Senate. Here are Tipper's numbers:

  • Required: 1,000
  • Turned in: 1,498
  • Rejected: 298
  • Accepted: 1,200

Candidates who planned to petition onto the primary ballot were allowed to begin collecting signatures on Jan. 16, and required to turn them in by March 20. In all, 45 candidates, including six running for governor, submitted petitions. Our office releases results after the petitions are reviewed, and notes when candidates have been declared sufficient. Here is that list.

Other candidates are getting on the ballot through the assembly process, which began with neighborhood caucuses in March and concludes with the state Democratic and Republican assemblies on Saturday.
