Gessler releases Second Quarter Economic Indicators Report
Forecast predicts slow growth for remainder of 2102
Denver, August 1, 2012 - Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler today released the Quarterly Business and Economic Indicators Report for the second quarter of 2012. The report predicts year-over-year job growth for the coming quarter of 2012.
This is the second quarterly report release based on an analysis of the Secretary of State’s business filing data. The Secretary of State’s office commissioned a study by the Business Research Division at the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business that found a correlation between business filing data and employment. The first quarterly report was released in May, describing the first quarter of 2012. Today’s release covers filing data from the period April through May of this year.
“The second quarter of 2012 again saw year-over-year growth in new entity business filings,” Secretary Gessler said. “This points to slow but continued employment growth as well. I hope this report continues to serve as a resource to assist business leaders and decision makers.”
