Gessler says decision preserves election uniformity

Denver, January 5, 2012 - Following today’s Court of Appeals decision, Secretary of State Scott Gessler released the following statement:

"Today’s decision upholds a fair and uniform statewide election system that treats voters the same across county lines," Gessler said. "Coloradans can continue to expect my office to enforce the laws on the books, preserve statewide uniformity and ensure election integrity."

"I also recognize the growing costs in elections are straining county budgets. During the upcoming legislative session, I’ll be proposing an elections cost savings package aimed at reducing costs and redundancies for county taxpayers, while preserving the security and access our voters expect."
