Secretary of State's Office Helps Colorado's Businesses
Business Division Online Adoption Rates at an All-Time High
Denver, April 5, 2006 - Secretary of State Gigi Dennis announced today that online filing of business organization documents has reached an all-time high. With new electronic filing capabilities, processing times for business documents has gone from days to minutes. Business organizations can be formed online in real time. Additionally, banks and loan agencies can file necessary loan documents more efficiently.
"Colorado has always been business-friendly, but with our new online filing process, businesses will be able to get up and moving much faster," Secretary of State Gigi Dennis said. "Business organization documents are now filed online 98% of the time."
The Business Division maintains a central repository of records of more than 690,000 companies that conduct business in Colorado. Now, more and more customers are avoiding costly delays and higher filing fees by opting to file documents and search for business information online. The Secretary of State's website also offers free e-mail notifications to remind businesses about upcoming filing dates and other important information from the Secretary of State's office.
The Uniform Commercial Code (U.C.C.) section, which maintains lien filings, has a searchable online database that may be accessed free of charge.
Secretary of State Dennis encourages the public to use various publications found on the Secretary of State's website as they set up businesses in Colorado.
