New Secretary of State Welcomed
Denver, August 29, 2005 - The staff of the Colorado Secretary of State's office welcomes Governor Bill Owens' appointment today of Gigi Dennis as the new Colorado Secretary of State.
"Gigi Dennis is highly qualified and an excellent choice. We look forward to assisting her with a smooth transition into the office," Deputy Secretary of State William A. Hobbs said.
"Mrs. Dennis comes to us with a strong record of public service," William A. Hobbs added. "Our staff is eager to meet her."
Former Secretary of State Donetta Davidson resigned from her position earlier this month after receiving a federal appointment from President George W. Bush to serve as a Commissioner with the United State's Election Assistance Commission (EAC). Today, Governor Bill Owens announced his appointment of Gigi Dennis to fill the vacancy for Colorado Secretary of State today following Davidson's departure from office. Dennis' appointment will become effective September 26.
