"Business as Usual" Following Davidson's Last Day in Office
Denver, August 18, 2005 - Donetta Davidson officially resigns her post as Secretary of State beginning Friday, August 19 when she takes her oath to serve as a Commissioner with the United States Election Assistance Commission (EAC). Deputy Secretary of State William A. Hobbs will be handling all duties for the Secretary of State's office until a successor is appointed by Governor Bill Owens.
"We are prepared to conduct business as usual until Davidson's successor is named," Deputy Secretary of State William A. Hobbs said.
Today is Secretary Davidson's last full day serving as Secretary of State. Davidson will officially be sworn in as an EAC Commissioner tomorrow. Next week Davidson will be working with her new colleagues in Denver as they hold their public hearing to receive input on voting system standards.
"I have loved serving as the Colorado Secretary of State and am saddened I will not be able to finish my term, however I am very much looking forward to the opportunities and possibilities that await me in my professional career," Secretary Davidson said. "I wish the incoming Secretary of State well and look forward to working with that individual in the future," Davidson added.
