2004 General Election Voter Turnout Hits a Record
Denver, December 14, 2004 - Secretary of State Donetta Davidson is pleased to announce that the statewide voter turnout for Colorado was 87%.
"I am pleased to see that so many Coloradoans got out and exercised their right to vote. Traditionally, voter turnout is always higher during a Presidential Election, but these numbers are truly incredible. This is a record for Colorado," Donetta Davidson said.
Here is a summary of the voter turnout for the seven metropolitan counties:
- Adams - 89%
- Arapahoe - 92%
- Broomfield - 94%
- Boulder - 91%
- Denver - 79%
- Douglas - 96%
- Jefferson - 89%
A more detailed breakout of voter turnout for each county may be obtained from the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.state.co.us. Please click on the "2004 Election Information link".
At this time, the Elections Division is still compiling the breakout for numbers of provisional, absentee, and regular ballots cast during the 2004 General Election. The numbers used to determine voter turnout were the total number of active voters for each county and the total number of ballots cast.
