Post Election Update - 9:00 a.m.
Denver, November 3, 2004 - The Colorado Secretary of State’s office has not received any reports of problems that occurred for County Clerk and Recorders during the counting process. The problems that occurred on Election Day were very minor and typical for a statewide election.
Boulder County is continuing to count ballots this morning. High voter turnout combined with numerous write in candidate votes slowed counting. The Boulder County Clerk is doing her job to ensure the voters’ intent is carried out, and the clerk and her staff are carefully and concisely processing ballots to ensure every vote is counted.
No legal challenges or lawsuits were filed in any Colorado county yesterday.
County clerks will now begin preparing and qualifying provisional ballots. Provisional ballots must be counted by November 14. County clerks have until November 18 to certify election results to the Secretary of State. In addition, the Colorado Secretary of State’s office will not have a final number for voter turnout until the County Clerks submit their certified election results to the Secretary of State later this month.
