Secretary of State Names Special Counsel for Election Issues
Denver, October 28, 2004 - Colorado Secretary of State Donetta Davidson has selected both Democratic and Republican attorneys to act as special counsel to deal with potential election lawsuits and election issues.
Attorney General Ken Salazar recused himself because of his involvement in the U.S. Senate race, giving Secretary Davidson the ability to engage attorneys from both major parties to act as her counsel.
Secretary Davidson has selected the following attorneys to represent her:
- Roger L. Keithley, Democrat
- Frederick W. Long, Republican
- Edward P. Timmins, Republican
- Patrick D. Tooley, Democrat
These attorneys will represent the Secretary on any election law challenges between now and Election Day as well as legal challenges that may arise as a result of specific races or election tallies.
