Merger Filings & COVID-19

In an effort to protect employees and customers from the spread of COVID-19, the Secretary of State’s Office remains closed to the public. However, our staff continues to work remotely to assist customers and most services remain available online.

Year-end paper filing tips:

  • Send paper filings via the United States Postal Service only.
    • Other forms of mail delivery will not be received in a timely manner. Our office location is closed to other delivery services so they are unable to leave your document with us.
  • File early and include a delayed effective date
    • A delayed effective date allows you to file certain forms up to ninety (90) days before the day that you want the document to be effective. A delayed effective date can be used on forms that are filed online, such as articles of incorporation, as well as paper forms.
    • For example, if you need the effective date of a statement of merger to be December 25, 2020, submit the form early and specify in the document that the statement of merger becomes effective on December 25, 2020 (12/25/2020). Please note that documents must be received in our office before the desired date; postmark dates or after hours are not sufficient.
  • Payment must be with check or a prepaid account for paper filed documents.
    • Customers with prepaid accounts can email the merger documents along with payment information to . Another option is to fax the document along with the prepaid account information to 303-869-4864.

Due to COVID-19, we cannot guarantee the days that we will have limited staff in the office. Please call 303-894-2200 with any questions.
